The main objective of the project entitled “Bolstering Innovative Research for Development Programs Leveraged through Local and International Funding Programs and Initiatives” is to support conduct and implementation of applied biotechnology research for development (BR4D) efforts to ensure alignment of projects and activities with DA Biotech RDE Agenda, complementation with other R4D efforts of other government institution and DA’s thrusts and strategies and ensure technology transfer or commercialization of outputs generated through creation of integrated systems and inventory of BR4D projects viable for technology transfer and commercialization.

The general objective of the project entitled “Capability Building on Responding to Challenges of the Philippine Livestock Sector” is to provide institutional capacity enhancement aligned with DA AO No. 26, series of 2021, specifically on utilizing advanced tools of biotechnology to enable current in-house technical staff of the DA-LBC for training re-echo to its livestock biotechnology R4D network. In addition to this, this proposed institutional capacity enhancement also aims to provide support to policy relative to GM animals and strengthen bilateral and/or multilateral agreements with local and international research institutions.

The project aims to enhance institutional capacity in line with DA Administrative Order No. 26, series of 2021. It focuses on collaborating with the Center’s network to develop biotechnology research proposals for key livestock commodities, designing and developing a training syllabus and resources for a capacity-building program, conducting activities to strengthen expertise in cutting-edge livestock biotechnology, establishing connections with local and international R&D institutes for joint initiatives, and promoting technologies developed through modern biotechnology to boost awareness and adoption among end-users.
